East Lothian, in conjuction with Midlothian Council operates a site for Gypsy Travellers at Whitecraig, between Musselburgh and Dalkieth. The site is managed by East Lothian on behalf of both Authorities.

There are 20 pitches and a resident site manager, who is a member of the Housing Office area team at Tranent.
