4. Aims
|
To identify vulnerable young people and work with them and people who are close to them, in a Person Centred way. There is an emphasis on employment and removing barriers to employment. The following are the core groups aimed at:
Special needs pupils in Mainstream education.
Special school leavers with physical and learning disabilities.
Residential school leavers/ Care leavers and ‘looked after’ young people.
Vulnerable and disaffected Young People in Mainstream Schools/non
ttendees.
School leavers with mental health Difficulties.
Drug and alcohol problems.

5. Activities
|
Assessing young people's needs and aspirations and supporting them to find a range of activities to help them acquire skills, confidence and maturity to achieve their potential. This will depend on the individual's needs but could include activities to develop and increase socialisation, team building through sport and recreational activities, developing routine and reliability and taking first steps towards further education and or employment, utilising new and existing resources and services such as ELVOS/Fairbridge/Bridge Project/S.I.P. etc.

6. Information and Advice services
|
15-24 East Lothian Keyworkers will offer advice and information where possible and if they cannot pick up on a referral.

Advice or referral forms from any of the above numbers. Home visits, day or evening. Outreach work in local area. Accompanying young people to a variety of interviews etc.

2 Full time paid staff members from Local Authority, ½ time worker from Careers.
