Exercise

You should already be reaping the benefits of regular physical activity:

  • You look and feel better
  • It helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints
  • It helps older adults become stronger and better able to move about without falling
  • It promotes psychological well-being
  • It helps control weight
  • It helps reduce blood pressure in people who already have high blood pressure

Ageing Well would like to keep up-to-date with all activities enjoyed by people over the age of 50.
Write and tell us about your activity.
We may be able to promote your activity by telling others about it
e-mail    walexander@eastlothian.gov.uk

Why not share your activity with others?
Ageing Well is looking for folk who could give us an
hour of their time once a week.

The Active for Life, East Lothian Ageing Well Project is currently seeking volunteers to support its work to enable people aged 50 and over to lead a more active lifestyle. As we get older it can sometimes be harder to stay active,
perhaps because of recent ill-health or because the support we have had from a friend or partner is no longer there. The Ageing Well project is able to work with the clients to assess their situation and to find an agreed way forward.
Senior Health Mentors are trained to provide the right amount of support where needed. This can be in the form of buddying, accompanying on walks, practical help to enable someone to take part in a local activity, or actually leading a group activity.

If you are over 50, reliable, like meeting others, and would like to know more,
please contact:
Wendy Alexander (Ageing Well co-ordinator)
on  01620 828760.
