East Lothian Council launched its new Tenant Participation Strategy on 5th December at the Housing Forum. The Strategy sets out the Council’s aims for tenant participation for the next 3 years.
The Strategy was developed in partnership with tenants, members of East Lothian Tenants and Residents Panel and Council staff. The Council consulted with tenants on the draft Strategy in May and June this year. We used the feedback we received during the consultation to make changes to the Strategy. We also decided to produce a summary leaflet of the Strategy for tenants, called get involved with us? A guide to East Lothian Council’s Tenant Participation Strategy.
The new Strategy is split into a number of Sections and it looks at the actions and resources that are needed to make tenant participation work in East Lothian.
The Strategy document explains for example, what resources we will provide to help our tenants participate with us. We recognise that there may be barriers to participation and we say how we will try to help remove these barriers so that as many tenants as possible get the opportunity to get involved in a way that suits them. Tenant Participation is central to the way we work, and we remain fully committed to ensuring that tenants can actively influence the services we deliver.
