Rebus 20
The Oxford Bar in Longniddry
The Oxford Bar in Longniddry

On 19th March 1987 Knots and Crosses, the first Rebus novel, was published.  To celebrate 20 years of this popular series East Lothian Library Services ran a competition to suggest ways for Rebus to spend his retirement.

Each of the winners received a goody bag supplied by Orion Books.

You can read the winning entries by Alison Cosgrove and Richard Walsh by clicking on the links on the right hand side of the page.

The winners of the competition were announced at an event in Longniddry Library on Monday 8th October 2007 when the library became the Oxford Bar for the evening.  Those attending participated in a pub quiz and were supplied with samples of Deuchars IPA courtesy of Caledonian Brewery and whisky courtesy of Highland Park - both partners in the Rebus 20 promotional campaign.

The winners of the quiz on the evening were QLJ scoring 15 out of 20 in the main quiz and then 4 out of 5 in the tie-break music round.

Throughout the evening a selection of music mentioned in the Rebus books was played.  For more information on the music mentioned in the books please see the link on the right of the page.
