On these pages you will find information about the Council's repairs service, as well as details of help and grants available in privately owned housing.

If you are renting from a Housing Association, you will find your Association's repairs policy or contact details here.

If you rent from a private landlord you will find advice about your rights and how to enforce them - but you will also be able to read about your duties to help keep the rented property well maintained.

For jointly owned, tenemental property, the rules governing repairs can be complex and have been amended recently by the Tenements (Scotland) Act 2004. The law change is intended to clarify responsibilities and duties for the upkeep of communal and tenement property. For more details please go here.
