We are taking an integrated approach to our equalities work while focusing specifically on the following groups:

Race |

Gender |
Age |

Legal Requirements
The Local Government in Scotland Act 2003: Local Authorities are required in carrying out the functions of best value, community planning and the power to advance well being, to encourage equal opportunities.
A series of Equalities legislation places varying responsibilities on local authorities to ensure equal opportunities for all. Recent legislation to cover Race, Disability and Gender places a requirement on all local authorities to proactively encourage equal opportunities in all area of work. Please refer to the Equalities Legislation Guide for more detail.
