Heritage

We are one of the major sources of information about the heritage and environment of East Lothian. Local history lending and reference collections are held in all our libraries, but our main resource is the Local History Centre in Haddington, which is a reference-only collection.

We are also responsible for a wide-ranging local history publications programme.

Large scale digitisation and  newspaper microfilming projects are making our collections more widely available.

The web site www.elh.info provides more information about our heritage.

For information on Scottish digital resources go to the Scottish Distributed Digital Library (SDDL). This consists of catalogues of digital libraries, so that all resources identified during a search will be digital and immediately accessible.
