Council Tenants handbook

Help with running your tenancy

This handbook has been produced by East Lothian Council with significant help from East Lothian Tenants and Residents Panel. We hope you take time to read it and would encourage you to provide any feedback, whether good or bad.

The handbook will give you an insight into your rights and responsibilities and provide you with information about key council services and useful contact information. It has been designed to allow any amendments or changes to be easily made. The Council will regularly review the content and send replacement sections when things change, as well as posting them here on the Internet. In addition we plan to provide you with much more information over the coming year. All we would ask is that you:
• keep the printed version of the handbook in a safe place, preferably beside your phone book
• use the amendments we send you to keep it up to date

Tenancy Documents

East Lothian's Scottish Secure Tenancy (SST) agreement, usually will be the legal basis for your Council tenancy. You should have been given your own copy of the agreement, and the copy below is intended for reference purposes only. If you would like to know more about the SST agreement, please contact your local housing office.
