One of our People’s Network computers in each library is equipped with Supernova software. This software provides screen magnification and speech-from-text conversion. The text on your screen can be read aloud to you (in an accent of your choice!).
Dragon Naturally Speaking is speech recognition software. Once your voice has been recorded and interpreted, you can speak your text and the computer will write what you say into a document.
Each library also has specialist hardware for those who experience physical difficulties in using keyboards and the mouse. The following are available: Trackballs and specially adapted large-size keyboards – in Dunbar Library, Haddington Library, Longniddry Library, Musselburgh Library, North Berwick Library, Port Seton Library, Prestonpans Library and Tranent Library.
