Writer of the Year 2007

The prizes for the Writer of the Year Award were presented at the Write Well Festival on Saturday 29th September  at Penicuik Town Hall by Colin Will, Chair of Tyne and Esk Writers and Debbie Miller, the Creative Writing Co-ordinator for the groups.

The awards were sponsored by Kesley’s Bookshop of Haddington with the donation of book tokens as prizes and by Glass Artist, Alison  Kinnaird,  from Temple who donated a fabulous “Writer of the Year” trophy.

The competition for the award took place earlier this year and around 100 entries were received for the competition.

First prize in the prose category went to Pippa Goldschmidt for Half a Life, with the following East Lothian writers receiving highly commended awards: Anne Marie Allen for her story Choices and Shiona Liddle for Slippery Whore.

First prize in the poetry category went to Jo Gibson for her poem A Void, Anna Dickie for her poem Pattern Repeat, and Angus Binnie for his poem The Last Horsemen.

The overall Writer of the Year Award went to John Arthur from Midlothian.
