Public Realm Grants
South end of High St completed project

This grant programme is designed to enhance the pavements and public spaces used by everyone within the THI area. Works under this category will be applied for and carried out by East Lothian Council. The aim of these works is to provide continuity with paving surfaces and street furniture which already exists in the High Street in Dunbar.

What projects have been completed so far?
The first project to benefit from a grant under this programme was at the south end of the High Street in the town. This project replaced a variety of pavement surfaces with Caithness slabs, granite block setts and whinstone kerbs.

What projects are being proposed in the future?
One project has been identified for Year Two. This will upgrade the materials and environment immediately adjacent to the Beach House Steps, leading from Castle Street down to the East Beach. Again it is intended that the materials used will bring some continuity with public realm elsewhere in the town centre to encourage visitors and residents down to the Beach area.

In Year Three, it is proposed to carry out similar works on the West Port area of the town centre.
