Jimmy's Story

Jimmy (14) is sometimes an angry and aggressive young man and sometimes a warm, affectionate, funny teenager.  Since his parents split up when he was 11, his Dad has only made occasional contact.

His Mum struggles with alcohol abuse and depression, and feels that she can no longer cope with Jimmy at home, where he lives with his younger sister aged 10.  Sometimes he is very aggressive towards his little sister.

He has been hanging around with slightly older boys, who are into drug use, and has become involved in some minor offences.  He says that there is no one to talk to at home or school.  Jimmy mostly gets into trouble at weekends, which is when his mother is unavailable because of drinking.  Jimmy loves his Mum but hates to see her drunk and gets angry and upset about it.

Jimmy needs a person or a family who can make the time to do things with him and listen to his worries.  You will be able to open up more positive opportunities and contacts for him, and reduce the likelihood of him getting into trouble with the law.
