Description

Bridges Project works with disadvantaged 15 -22 year olds across East Lothian and Midlothian.  The aim of the project is to assist young people make the transitions from school, unemployment, homelessness etc to the world of adult responsibilities, independent living, self-reliance and employability.  This is done through direct services to young people whilst working closely and in partnership with referring and other local agencies. We offer informal learning opportunities, focused individual case work and group work in a number of areas including Homemaking, literacy/numeracy, skills development, art, fitness, music, new technology workshops etc.  We also offer housing education and employability packages in schools and other youth provision.

How to get the service

Electronic referral forms can be emailed out to potential referrers, and in some cases referrals can be taken over the telephone to be followed by appropriate consents.  Wherever possible, a phone call should be made first for a discussion as to whether the referral is: appropriate; the type and level of intervention required and what the young person seeks to achieve from being referred.  We do not operate a waiting list and seek to respond swiftly to all referrals - it depends on the reason for assessment and work to be done.

Charges

No charges are applied to young people, and in most cases, there is no charge to referring agencies.
