The wards have been re-designed by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland. Through this process and by securing the input of East Lothian Council and other members of East Lothian community the new wards have retained where possible natural community boundaries and local ties. A significant factor in achieving this was the decision to use existing community council boundaries as a base.

Although some wards will elect 3 councillors and others 4, the number of electorate served is taken into account and the ratio of electors to councillors will remain broadly the same for each ward. Click here for the Local Government Boundary Commission website.

With the change in make-up of local government wards, a review of our scheme of polling places and stations has taken place to ensure that the locations are convenient for people living within the boundaries of the new wards.  While it is likely that many of the traditional polling places will still be used this is not guaranteed, especially since the number of stations required is increased for these elections. So please check where your polling station is before setting out to vote (details will be provided on your poll card).
