Transport Scotland introduced a national scheme of bus, rail and ferry concessionary travel for young people on 8th January 2007.
The scheme applies to all 16-18 year olds who are resident in Scotland and also includes young full time volunteers up to the age of 25.
The following discounts are available:
· One third off adult single fares on buses all over Scotland.
· A free Young Person’s Railcard, cutting up to one third off train fares.
· Two free return ferry journeys to the mainland if you live on an island.
In order to receive these discounts the Young Person must apply for a National Entitlement Card.
Application forms are available from your local library.
The successful applicant will receive a National Entitlement Card, a Bus Pass, a Rail Voucher and if applicable Ferry Vouchers.
