East Lothian Care and Repair

East Lothian Care and Repair offers a service to elderly and disabled people who own their homes or are private tenants, and who need advice on financing and carrying out housing improvements, repairs and maintenance.

ELCR was set up in 1987 and is managed by East Lothian Housing Association with support from Communities Scotland and East Lothian Council. The ELCR officers cannot carry out repairs themselves, but they can:

* Visit you to discuss what is worrying you about your house
* Help you to decide on necessary repairs and improvements
* Give you an idea of the costs involved
* Advise on ways of raising the money.
* Help you find suitable builders to do the work
* Help you fill in forms for grants and loans
* Help you cope while work is being carried out in your home
* Direct you to other sources of help, if needed.
* Offer you these services free of charge.

ELCR also offers a small repairs service, which carries out repairs for the cost of materials alone - labour charges are excluded. To quailfy, you must be over 60 - or over 50 and disabled. The types of repairs offered are outlined in the document posted on the right hand side of this page.

You can contact ELCR at 01620 828445 or Fax them on 01620 826196
