Brunton Youth Theatre

Brunton Youth Theatre (BYT) offers young people aged 8 – 18 a fantastic opportunity to learn a huge range of theatre skills through workshops, rehearsals and performances in a fun and supportive environment.
The groups meet weekly and are arranged by age: 8 – 11, 12 - 14 and 15 – 18.

The emphasis is on the process as much as performance. Young people are supported by experienced drama tutors to develop a range of ideas using a variety of drama techniques.

BYT also work with a selection of visiting drama tutors to develop acting techniques, circus skills, stage make up, stage fighting and production skills.

BYT perform regularly on the main stage at Brunton Theatre. These productions are directed by freelance directors who work with the young people. Past performances include Not Exactly A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Chalk Marks, Dream On, The Circus Dream and their annual BYT Showcase.

BYT also receive generous discounts on tickets for selected performances at Brunton Theatre, visits to other theatres and opportunities to perform at other venues.
