Blue Triangle Housing Association

The Association enables excluded homeless people to develop confidence, skills and a sense of self worth with the aim of resettlement into their own tenancies and preparing people for employment opportunities. Current initiatives include:

Supported accommodation
Employment opportunities
One to one counselling
Floating support work
Health awareness

Blue Triangle runs two projects in East Lothian:

Wemyss House in Prestonpans provides supported accommodation for seven homeless adults who may have experience of mental health problems, drug and alcohol issues, or problems with offending behaviour.  All referrals to Wemyss House come from East Lothian Council's Homelessness Section. Once referred, individuals are formally assessed by the staff in order to determine whether or not the project has the potential to meet their practical, social and emotional needs to a satisfactory extent: http://www.btha.org.uk/weymsshouse.htm.

Blue Triangle Millhill Project in Musselburgh is a Direct Access Accommodation Unit in Musselburgh, providing accommodation and support for people aged 16-25, who are experiencing homelessness. The emphasis of both Projects is to prepare young people to live independently. A programme of groupwork and individual work is an integral part of the service provided. As Blue Triangle Musselburgh works in close partnership with East Lothian Council, referrals are made through the Council's Homeless Section. The contact telephone number is: (01620) 829249. http://www.btha.org.uk/musselburgh.htm
