Link Housing Group

Link provides the following information about its services:

Link's vision is to be the provider of choice of a package of socially inclusive regeneration, housing and support services to a range of customers, primarily in the central belt of Scotland.

One of the largest organisations of its kind, Link Housing Association provides quality housing management and maintenance services to more than 5,000 tenants in social rented accommodation - both general needs and sheltered - and is active in many parts of Scotland with bases in east, central and west Scotland and in the Highlands.

As part of a commitment to maintain the best possible standards of service and support, Link Housing aims to be responsive to its customers' needs and aspirations.

East and Midlothian Service

People who have to deal with exclusion in any number of forms - from the young and vulnerable to those facing the challenges of a learning disability, mental illness, or drug/alcohol issues - receive support from LinkLiving's East and Midlothian Service.

This support is offered to people referred from social work departments, the DSS or local authorities and to individuals who have made a direct approach themselves.

With the Values of Inclusion as the service's value base, support is planned using person-centred tools and delivered on an individual basis. More than 400 hours of support are provided each week, ranging from two to 24 hours for each service user, according to need.

The principal aim is to empower people to be part of their local community and to lead ordinary, valued lives.

Service users are mostly supported in their own tenancies, but there is one registered care home offering 24-hour support.

Funded by Social Work, DSS, Communities Scotland and, principally, Supporting People, the service works as a partnership with Castle Rock Housing Association, Melville Housing Association, Midlothian & East Lothian Councils, Social Services Department and other agencies.
