Housing race Issues

Policies have been put in place within the department of  Community Housing and Property Management, to tackle a variety of issues connected to racisim.

Racism is considered anti-social behaviour. The Council has developed a strategy to deal with such behaviour and it can be read here.

Following Good Practice in letting out houses can help tackle racism, as well. Officers strive to be fair in their allocations and they are obliged to take into account the wants and needs of members of minority communities. The Council has a policy on racial discrimination, which can be read here.

Housing officers will always follow up complaints about racial abuse and harrassment. Incidents involving vandalism and offensive graffiti are given top priority for action by the Council.
