Today we are launching Primetime, the Big Lottery Fund's first ever initiative just for older people in Scotland. We have teamed up with BBC Scotland to give the public the chance to decide how to spent £3 million of Lottery money.
Together with BBC Scotland we will shortlist 18 projects from around the country, which will be highlighted on a BBC Scotland television series broadcast next year.
Split into six regional areas, the winners from each region - decided by a public vote - will be in line for a £500,000 award.
Through the Primetime programme, we want to fund projects that will help make older people healthier and active and give them a greater sense of well-being. We also want this money to help improve interaction and understanding between the older population and young people, so although Primetime's target audience is the over-50s, the initative will not focus exclusively on the over-50 age group.
