Children who are looked after or accommodated away from home
Looked after children are children, 0-18, for whom the Council has a legal responsibility. This includes children who are accommodated by the Council, either in a residential unit or with carers, and children subject to a supervision requirement, made by a Children's Hearing. Children on 'supervision' may be living at home or away from home.
We work together with other agencies and other departments in the Council to try to provide our services for looked-after children and young people in a joined-up way. We want to help our looked after children and young people to achieve better educational results and enjoy good health. Please click on the links below to find out more.
