East Lothian Food and Drink Awards
Food and Drink Industry Awards Celebrate Excellence

Provost Sheena Richardson presented the 2007 East Lothian Food and Drink Awards at the Kilspindie Hotel, Aberlady on Thursday with guests from over 60 companies from the food and drink industry.
The competition, which celebrates and publicises the high quality of food and drink available in the county, has six categories with four winners chosen by an independent panel which visits each entrant anonymously for a meal, and two by nomination of their peers. The winners were:

Best Fine Dining Award sponsored by Bank of Scotland:
La Potinière, Gullane;

Best Restaurant/Bistro Award sponsored by Brodies: The Rocks, Dunbar;

Best Bar Meal Award sponsored by Viridor Glass Recycling: Ducks at Kilspindie, Aberlady;

Customer Service Award sponsored by Queen Margaret University: The Glasshouse, Eskmills, Musselburgh;

Best Local Supplier Award sponsored by Glenkinchie Distillery: Anderson’s Quality Butchers;

Slow Food Award – nominated by Slow Food East Lothian: The Creel Restaurant, Dunbar.

Provost Richardson said: “I was delighted to present these awards tonight as it gives me an opportunity to congratulate all those people whose dedication and hard work have raised the profile of our food and drinks industry and enhanced its reputation well beyond East Lothian.

“ And what a tremendously varied industry we have! How does such a small area like East Lothian produce the best of almost everything there is to eat and drink? Is there another place in Scotland that produces better beer, whisky, haggis, sweeties, bakeries, seafood? – the list is endless.”
