Food and Safety

The Food & Safety Team ensures that the Council fulfils its legal obligation in respect of Food Hygiene, Food Standards, Health & Safety at Work, Licensing, Caravan Sites and the Investigation of Communicable Diseases, as well as various additional Public Health and Public Safety issues.

The primary function of the Food & Safety Team's work is to protect the public, the environment and groups such as consumers, employees and employers.

The team works within the guidelines determined by various policies and procedures which have been developed to ensure that they will carry out their obligations in an equitable, practical and consistent manner in order to assist in the promotion of a thriving national and local economy. All enforcement action will follow the Principles of Good Enforcement as detailed in the COSLA Enforcement Concordat and the General Enforcement Policy published by the Team.

Members of the team will receive appropriate training and development to ensure that a high professional standard is maintained and the demands of the customer base are met.
