Public views sought on proposed coastal car park improvements
A public consultation leaflet containing a questionnaire seeking views regarding the proposal to introduce parking charges at 13 East Lothian coastal sites is being circulated widely across the county to gauge opinion to the proposal.
Cllr. Paul McLennan, Cabinet Spokesperson for Environment, said; “The administration has set out clear proposals for improving the coastal car parks and associated infrastructure by introducing parking charges and using the monies raised solely on planned improvements. It's important that we hear from both local residents and coastal visitors their views on these proposals so we are circulating these questionnaires to a variety of tourism centres and public buildings and I urge people to complete them and let us know their views. We are keen to ascertain views from users in a way that will determine the way ahead”
The leaflets are available from East Lothian Council offices, libraries, sports centres, tourist information centres and other outlets across East Lothian. Copies are also being sent to Community Councils and recreational groups including surfers clubs, walking groups, horseriding clubs etc who are regular visitors to East Lothian beaches. Questionnaires are to be returned by Monday 18th August.
