Lothian Buses has advised East Lothian Council that it has extended the route of its 45 bus service mainly for the benefit of students and staff at Queen Margaret University (QMU).
During peak times in the morning and afternoon, the bus service will now run to and from the QMU campus to points throughout Edinburgh ending at Royal Bank of Scotland HQ at Gogarburn.
The service originally terminated at Jock's Lodge on Willowbrae Road. However, from this week , the service will operate Monday to Friday from approximately 7am to 10am and 3pm to 6.20pm, running about every 20 minutes on an extended route to Newcraighall Station and QMU campus.
Transport spokesman Councillor Paul McLennan said: “I hope that the extension of the 45 bus service will benefit students and staff travelling to and from QMU, reduce car use, and help ease the parking problems and congestion in the area around the university.”
Timetables for the extended route are available at www.lothianbuses.com or 0131 555 6363.
