Services for people with acquired brain injury

Our services for people with acquire brain injuries aim to help people enjoy a high quality of life.   We make sure that service-users views and wishes are listened to, and that everyone is dealt with individually.

Once you have been assessed as needing a community care service, you can choose to buy your own services through the Direct Payments  scheme or we can purchase them for you.

To be able to get a community care service, you must be aged 16 or over, and you must have an assessment.  People who are in most need or at most risk will be given priority.  People may be charged for some services depending on the outcome of their financial assessment. Please see our Eligibility Criteria for more information on both these subjects.

You can find out more about how we plan and deliver services for people with acquired brain injuries in the East Lothian Community Care Plan – 2001 to 2004 (pdf)
