The Schools Division provides a strong focus in supporting educational establishments and to develop monitoring and self-evaluation procedures in line with national guidance (HG1OS, 2002) and to set the development planning process within the national priorities for education.
A Schools Division Manager co-ordinates a team of staff to provide this support.
The roles of both teaching and support staff are critical to providing an effective curriculum differentiated to meet the needs of children and young people with additional educational needs. Support and advice is offered to all educational establishments on curriculum design and development planning in line with national advice.
The Schools Division is also instrumental in identifying staff development and training needs and implementing a staff development programme across all the sectors: pre school, primary and secondary and specialist provision.
The Pupil Support Division and Schools Division staff will, therefore, work in collaboration to ensure that staff develop skills in raising attainment and combating disadvantage.
