East Lothian Council’s Arts Service has brought Andy Scott's Kelpies maquettes to East Lothian as part of The Saltire Festival 2016.

The Kelpie maquettes are 1:10 scale models of The Kelpies from The Helix in Falkirk, designed by sculptor Andy Scott.

Andy is a graduate of Glasgow School of Art and works internationally from his studio workshop in the city creating prominent public artworks. He works in steel and bronze, combining figurative and equine themes with contemporary techniques to create stunning landmark artworks. His most prominent project to date is The Kelpies, a pair of 30 metre high, 300 ton horse heads, sited in Falkirk. The small scale maquettes of the Kelpies that are on view at the Racecourse were made prior to the creation of the full scale artwork.

The maquettes  have toured to Chicago, Indiana and New York City. East Lothian Council’s Arts Service has now brought them to East Lothian to be on display during the Council’s Saltire Festival. The Kelpies sculptures are the best known public artworks in Scotland, with almost two million visitors since their inauguration.
