Sustainable Procurement

Poster - WWF sustainable procurement

Alongside achieving value for money, East Lothian Council is committed to maximising the social and economic benefit derived from its procurement and minimising the environmental impact of the goods and services that it procures. The Council has developed a Sustainable Procurement Policy, which was approved in 2012.

In 2011, the Council achieved a bronze award in WWF’s Local Authority Timber Pledge Scheme.   We are currently working towards the silver pledge, which will involve making a commitment to not purchase any timber or paper product without knowing the source of the wood and choosing a project where only recycled or sustainable timber products will be used.
