Trees in conservation areas
Before undertaking any tree work you are strongly advised to check with the Council if the tree is within a conservation area (or is otherwise protected by a tree preservation order or its retention is required by any conditions imposed by a planning permission).
If so, you must obtain written approval from East Lothian Council in advance of any tree operations. You should write to:
The Director of Environment
East Lothian Council
John Muir House
The Council must be notified in writing six weeks in advance of any proposed work intended on trees located within a conservation area.
