Carers support groups

Providing care can be a very rewarding experience. However it can also be lonely, physically tiring and put a strain on your finances. This is why there are dedicated services to offer carers in East Lothian support and a break from their caring responsibilities.

Dedicated support

Carers of East Lothian provides dedicated, confidential and free support for anyone with a care responsibility in the county. They will offer you as much advice and support as you feel you need.

Carers of East Lothian can:

  • let you know about welfare benefits: money for you and the person that you look after.
  • help you meet other people in a similar situation through their social events.
  • listen to your concerns in confidence.

Additional services

Carers of East Lothian can also offer continuing support if your caring role comes to an end and can provide advocacy services to support you in professional situations. You can find out more about advocates and their role in our carers advocacy section.

Carers of East Lothian will meet you in their offices, in your home or in another suitable venue.

Respite care and short breaks

Following an assessment, we may be able to arrange a short break for you during the day and/or overnight. You can find out more about this service and how to apply for it from our respite care services section.
