Training, Research and Development

One of the core functions of an Educational Psychologist is to deliver training to those supporting children and young people in an educational setting. This may include teachers, support staff, and parents and carers.

Evidence on effectiveness of training suggests that ‘one-off’ presentations are not sufficient to change practice.  Therefore, the training we offer is needs-led and linked to School Improvement Plans.  This enables capacity building and a process for evaluating outcomes and impact. Last session, our work on capacity building included topics such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Growth Mindset and Attachment and Staff Self-Care.

Our service uses a range of innovative psychological approaches in research and development.  Video Interaction Guidance and Video Enhanced Reflective Practice (VERP) are being used in exciting research and development projects this session!

Kent Educational Psychology Service has an engaging video explaining more about these approaches.
