Joining and using the library

Borrowing items from the library

Adults 

  • up to 15 items (a combination of up to 10 books, up to 4 audio books, DVDs or music CDs)

Young Adult (14-16)

  •  up to 10 items (a combination of up to 10 books, up to 4 audio books, DVDs or music CDs)

Teenagers (12-14)

  • up to 10 items (a combination of up to 10 books, up to 4 audio books, DVDs or music CDs)

Children under 12

  • up to 10 items (a combination of up to 8 books, up to 4 audio books, DVDs or music CDs)

How long you can keep the items

Loans are for three weeks, but can be extended for a further period on request (by phone, online or in person) as long as the items are not required by another borrower. Long-term loans for study and holidays can also usually be arranged.

  • popular fiction and non-fiction in hardback and paperback
  • eBooks and eAudiobooks
  • language courses (from beginners to advanced)
  • car workshop manuals
  • Ordnance Survey maps 1:50000 (for all of the UK)
  • sheet music
  • large print books
  • audio books
  • government publications
  • DVDs
  • music CDs
