Pre-Vocational Programme (Pre-Voc)

EL works

The pre-vocational programme is designed to work with young people alongside their timetable while they are at school. The courses aim to help young people gain experience and qualifications in a range of areas, helping them move onto further education, training or employment.

All programmes are supported by an employability support officer and offer students the chance to learn new skills and build on talents they already have.

Application Process:

  1. Speak to guidance teacher or support worker if you are interested in any of the programmes
  2. Referral will be submitted to Employability Support Officer at East Lothian Works
  3. Interview will take place with Employability Support Officer and Young Person to give more in depth information.
  4. Courses will start in new school term

Young people will have the opportunity to gain experience and receive a reference from the course tutors whilst building on employability skills.

Transport for all courses is fully covered and it is the young person’s responsibility to catch up on any work they may have missed.

In previous years we have seen many young people gain qualifications which have allowed them to move straight into employment, successfully complete work experience placements leading to further training or employment.
