What is social inclusion?

Get Connected “The difficulties that a child has with being “different” are not the result of the difference but of the ways people see them and institutions provide for them.”

Inclusion is all about responding to and embracing diversity. It is more than just tolerating difference or providing physical access to a mainstream nursery or youth club. It is about adapting to meet a range of individual needs and being positive in our approach to making sure that everyone can take part.

In terms of activities for children and young people this means:

  • Not turning anyone way, full stop, for any reason
  • Being able to join in any activity you want to take part in
  • No barriers or boundaries
