Apply for Universal Credit
If you wish to apply for Universal Credit, you must apply online to the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP):

Apply online to East Lothian Council for financial assistance
There are various forms of financial assistance available from East Lothian Council.
- Apply for Council Tax Reduction to reduce your council tax payments
- Apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment to help with your rent costs
- Apply for a Scottish Welfare Fund grant
If you are of pension age
If you are of pension age, you will not need to apply for Universal Credit.
If you need help with your housing costs or council tax payments, you must apply to East Lothian Council for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction using a paper application form.
