Don't let your Christmas spending snowball out of control

Keep a grip on your spending

East Lothian Council's Revenues & Welfare Support team is launching a media campaign over the festive period to help East Lothian residents at risk of falling behind with their rent and council tax payments.

Kenny Christie, Service Manager - Revenues & Welfare Support says:

'Christmas is fast approaching and we understand it can be a difficult time of year.  It's all too easy to let spending get out of control.

We want everyone to have a good Christmas, but we're reminding our customers of the importance of keeping their rent and council tax payments up-to-date.  We want to avoid households having to deal with unmanageable debt in the New Year.

If anyone is having difficulty, we're here to help.

We're urging customers to get in touch if in difficulty so that we can make sure everyone is getting the financial support they are entitled to and we can also discuss other repayments options.

Just call the councils rent or council tax team on 01620 827827. Don't ignore the situation, it will only get worse.'

The council has launched a press, radio and social media campaign to get the message across.
