Latest update for employees

04 March - Update for Employees from Chief Executive Angela Leitch

The huge effort from employees has continued throughout the weekend so thank you all for striving to keep our roads clear and maintaining essential services for communities.

We’re also grateful to the many residents, farmers and local groups who have assisted with the clear-up and looked out for their neighbours.

While we’ve seen an improvement in the conditions a Met Office Yellow Warning for snow remains in place.
There has been a lot of effort to clear snow from roads, paths and car parks. As a result we hope most council services will run as normal tomorrow (Monday) and we will be resuming normal operational practice.

Due to the volume of snow there may be some reduced availability of parking at some council offices. Consider car sharing or using public transport if this is an option.

All East Lothian Council schools, nurseries and specialist education provision will re-open tomorrow (Monday). We are working closely with providers who transport pupils from more isolated rural areas (outwith towns and villages) to and from our schools. Transport providers will contact parents directly if there are any difficulties collecting pupils from these locations due to road conditions.

Thank you again to all colleagues for their continuing efforts to keep East Lothian moving and our residents safe and well during the extreme conditions we experienced.
