Revamped website provides range of youth information

The East Lothian Youth Vision website has been relaunched showcasing East Lothian's Youth Strategy. More than a quarter of the county's population is under the age of 21 and young people from across East Lothian worked with the council's Community Learning and Development Service to develop the first youth vision and continued discussions and workshops have led to the new site.

East Lothian Council's Youth Champion, Cllr Ruth Currie, explained:

"Children and young people use and require public services so it is only right they should also be able to be involved in shaping these services and being part of the decision making processes. Youthvision promotes youth engagement and active citizenship and builds respect for human rights and mutual responsibility and through such initiatives we are providing opportunities for everyone to participate."

The refreshed youth vision web site provides access to a range of youth oriented information and events. The site will also be used to provide up to date data regarding the wishes of young people across East Lothian.  The new data will start to be gathered through a series of youth music events to be held across the county from the summer to build up to the. largest collation of young people's vision on what services need to offer in the future. The website is available at: http://www.youthvisionel.net/
