Armed Forces Day ceromony

A short ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day flag raising was held in the Town House, Haddington, at which East Lothian Provost Ludovic Broun-Lindsay was joined by the Lord Lieutenant of East Lothian, Sir Garth Morrison, armed forces representatives, veterans, and community representatives.

The armed forces flag was presented to the Lord Lieutenant by forces representative Tom Logan, left in picture, chairman of the East of Scotland Royal Scots Association. The presentation on Monday 25 June marks the begining of a week of celebrations across the UK in the build up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday 30 June, an event that takes place every year to celebrate the armed forces – past and present.

The Armed Forces Day Flag will fly throughout the week at John Muir House, Haddington, Brunton Hall, Musselburgh and at a number of the county’s local schools.

 Provost Broun-Lindsay said:

The sacrifice, dedication and professionalism of our armed forces deserves our support and recognition.By raising the flag simultaneously with other local councils across the UK, we are helping to demonstrate our appreciation for all our service personnel, past and present.
