Council manager receives fellowship

The Council has recognised the outstanding achievement of its Trading Standards Manager Tony McAuley after he was awarded Fellowship of the Scottish branch of the Trading Standards Institute (TSI).

Presenting Mr McAuley with his Certificate of Fellowship before a recent meeting of Council, Provost Ludovic Broun-Lindsay (left in photo) congratulated him on rendered outstanding and distinguished service to the objectives which the Institute serves and to the Council.

Tony said:

I am honoured that the Institute has recognised my professional contribution in this way and would like to thank my colleagues for all their support and also East Lothian Council which supports the work we do in communities across the county.

Tony has been the Council’s Trading Standards Manager and Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures since 2001. He is an advocate for consumer rights and trading standards. Tony has been greatly supported in his work by his colleagues in the Trading Standards Team and East Lothian Council. He has held a number of key posts within trading standards in Scotland and the UK including: Secretary of the Society of Chief Officers of Trading Standards in Scotland, Chairman of the Scottish Branch of the Trading Standards Institute (TSI), COSLA advisor, TSI Council member and visiting lecturer on TS matters to Queen Margaret University.

The Trading Standards Institute formally conferred the Fellowship at its annual conference in June in Manchester.

The Trading Standards Institute (TSI) represents professionals in the UK, and overseas - in local authorities, business and consumer sectors and central government. TSI promotes and protects the success of the economy by safeguarding the health, safety and wellbeing of citizens by supporting its members to empower consumers, encourages honest business practice and targets rogue traders.
