Published Wednesday 31st July 13
A miniature East Lothian is coming to central Edinburgh from Thursday, August 1st.
Part of an innovative event to showcase what the county has to offer to Edinburgh residents and festival-goers, Wish You Were There… is arriving at St Andrew Square in Edinburgh on the 1st of August for a 10 day festival of events with a fantastic line-up of activity and entertainment.
Recreating a miniature East Lothian right in the centre of Edinburgh during the busy Festival period, Wish you were there….aims to capture the hearts and imagination of day trippers and tourists, encouraging them to visit East Lothian and enjoy the sumptuous range of food and drink, the stunning coast and world-class golf courses, enjoy the heritage and vast array of wildlife as well as the unique shopping experiences on offer in the region’s towns.
The confirmed partners for the event include East Links Family Park, The National Museum of Flight, Foxlake Adventures, Coast to Coast Surf School, Musselburugh Racecourse and The Brunton Theatre as well as key activity areas from East Lothian Council’s Cultural Services teams and East Lothian Golf Tourism Alliance.
Grant Bell, Managing Director of East Links Family Park, said:
"I'm glad to see the 'Wish You Were There' event at St Andrew Square back on the calendar again. East Links Family Park is 100% behind this venture after dipping our toes in at last year's pilot event. I must say, securing such a venue in such a prestigious location at the height of the festival is major coup, especially considering the competition out there. East Links will really be pushing the boat out this year and doing our utmost to pull in the crowds with colour, banners, branding, live activities for children and parents as well as the usual array of livestock. The important thing for us is to meet our old customers, make new ones and get them all back to the farm with offers only available at the event. This is an excellent opportunity for all East Lothian businesses who would like to steer the Edinburgh visitor in their direction."
This year’s event expects to attract in excess of 150,000 visitors, who will experience a real treat, from cookery demonstrations and tastings from local producers, to an interactive farm park with four star visitor attraction East Links Family Park, surfing lessons from Coast to Coast, wakeboarding demonstrations from Foxlake Adventures, science workshops by the Dunbar Science Festival and childrens’ fun area from Thurston Manor Leisure.
Partners and exhibitors at the event will also be providing special offers and promotions exclusive to the event visitors.
Opening Times: Thursday 1st August to Sunday 11th August. 10am -7pm daily.
