Updated information on possible flooding

A Flood Warning has been issued for Musselburgh Coastal area.  The high tide level on Saturday (January 4)afternoon combined with the weather conditions means flooding is possible from the sea.

Flooding is possible along the coastal frontage at Musselburgh. Areas that may be at risk include: low lying properties on Edinburgh Road at Newhailes; low lying properties at New Street, Fisherrow; properties at Mountjoy Terrace and Mountjoy Terrace. Streets and low lying properties adjacent to the River Esk- including Eskside West; Eskside East; New Street and the Goose Green area.

High Tide is expected at 4.30pm with waves forecast.

A Flood Warning has also been issued for Prestonpans, Cockenzie & Port Seton.

High tide level on Saturday afternoon combined with the weather conditions means flooding is possible from the sea. Flooding is possible along the coastal frontage from Prestonpans, to Cockenzie and Port Seton. Areas that may be at risk include the B1348 High Street; Cockenzie Harbour; Port Seton Harbour; Wemyss Place; Cockenzie Power Station; Ormiston Place; Salt Preston Place; Inchview North. High Tide is expected at 4.30pm when the level is forecast to reach 3.5m. There are south to south-west winds with waves forecast.

North Berwick is also included in the latest warnings. High tide level combined with weather conditions means flooding is possible from the sea. Flooding is expected along the coastal frontage at North Berwick. The area at greatest risk of flooding is Victoria Road, although it is expected that water levels will not be as high as those experienced on 5th December last year. High tide is expected at 16:30.

The council and other agencies are continuing to monitor the situation and information will be updated as appropriate.
