ASBO probits man from local football ground

An Antisocial Behaviour Order (ASBO) has been granted against Steven Moffat (21) of High Street, Prestonpans following an application to the court by East Lothian Council. The terms of the ASBO prohibit Mr Moffat from attending any football matches held at the Pennypit, Prestonpans for a period of 12 months.

The court was presented with details of the alleged antisocial behaviour of Mr Moffat which included behaving in an aggressive manner and being intoxicated at a football match played at the Pennypit in October 2013. He was charged with a number of offences and ultimately received a custodial sentence of 140 days.

East Lothian Council’s safer communities team worked closely with Police Scotland to compile the dossier of evidence which was used to prepare the case against Mr Moffat

East Lothian Council spokesperson said:

“This is a slightly unusual case which has centred on antisocial behaviour at a public sporting venue. Mr Moffat’s actions have caused alarm and distress to others and it was felt appropriate to apply for an ASBO to stop his continued behaviour affecting others enjoying matches at the Pennypit.”
