A Masterplan for the former Cockenzie Power Station site is now up for public participation and review.

A Masterplan for the former Cockenzie Power Station site being produced by consultants Peter Brett Associates for East Lothian Council is now up for public participation and review.

A first round of consultations held in November produced a good response from all sections of the community. The many ideas and comments brought forward by the public have now been used to help draw up possible plan options.

Council Leader Willie Innes said:

“We were greatly encouraged by the number of people who took the time and trouble to share their views at the first round of consultation. I hope the community will get behind this second stage in the same wholehearted way so that we can develop a master plan that everyone can support for regeneration of this key site and the surrounding area.”

Kevin Murray, Principal at Kevin Murray Associates, who are leading on this part of the work, said:

“We had a good turnout at each of the first round of events in November and this produced lots of information to analyse. We are now inviting people to come along and review the work we have done so far to help us move towards a final plan.”

Community drop in sessions have been organised as follows:

  • Wednesday 1 February, 7pm - 9pm at Cockenzie Primary School
With 15 minute presentations at 7:30pm and 8:30pm
  • Saturday 4 February, 10am - 2pm at Prestonpans Town Hall
With 15 minute presentations at 11:00am, 12 noon and 1:00pm
  • Wednesday 8 February, 7pm - 9pm at Port Seton Centre
With 15 minute presentations at 7:30pm and 8:30pm.

Members of the Masterplan team will be available at each of these events to present proposals, discuss emerging ideas and take on board public feedback. All members of the public are welcome to call in at any of the sessions at any time or attend any of the scheduled presentations.
