Open invite to Dunbar and East Linton Area Partnership meeting
Local residents and businesses in the Dunbar and East Linton areas are invited to attend their Area Partnership Public Meeting on Monday 27th February at 7pm at Dunbar Grammar School.
The meeting provides an opportunity for the public to find out more about the Area Partnership and what it has achieved for the local communities over the past year. Local residents will be able to meet up with AP members and have the chance to raise issues for consideration in the Area Plan.
In addition there will also be a showcase event from Jacqui Burke’s Fashion School in Dunbar who will open the event with a fashion show and display featuring young people from local communities modelling their own creations. The Fashion school received £13,800 in funding from AP this year from their education attainment budget to run their "Make-it" project.
Make It is an innovative project offering up to 24 young people opportunities to learn more about working in the fashion and retail sector. They spend one and a half days per week for 12 weeks at the Fashion School as part of a creative employability option. In addition to practical experience they also receive support and mentoring from an Employability Specialist to ensure that all students have appropriate CV's, Interview experience, customer service training, and develop team work and problem solving skills. At the end of the course they will take part in a graduation showcasing their completed garments.
The AP meeting will start at 7pm and finish no later than 9pm and all are very welcome.
