Christmas Shop Local winner

Two lucky main prize winners in the latest East Lothian Christmas Council Shop Local campaign have won £150 each in shopping vouchers.

The campaign, which encourages people to use their local shops in the run-up to Christmas, was another huge success, with 7,000 entry cards returned and more than 100 retailers across East Lothian taking part.

Anne Covey from Pencaitland and Susan Black from East Linton scooped joint first prize after spending more than £20 in one transaction at the Maple Tree in Haddington and Gibson’s, Haddington.

Councillor John McMillan, East Lothian Council spokesperson for Economic Development and Tourism, said:

“Congratulations to our two top prize winners and to the many others who each received £50-worth of shopping vouchers. We had winners from all over East Lothian and the surrounding areas and even one from Suffolk! He’s very much looking forward to spending his vouchers on his next visit. The Shop Local initiative is just one of the ways the council supports local businesses.
