Tourism conference 2015

East Lothian Council is holding its first ever ‘virtual’conference for the county’s tourism businesses on Friday 17th March.

In an exciting first for the county, live and recorded interviews with tourism professionals will be broadcast throughout the day using Facebook.

Delegates will be invited to like and follow a Facebook page and to join the conference to listen to the interviews. At the end of the day there will a live Q&A session on Facebook live.

Douglas Proudfoot, Head of Service (Development) at East Lothian Council, said:

“This great new online event follows on from the highly successful tourism business conferences we’ve previously held and the regular networking sessions that we facilitate but, in line with our new Digital Marketing Strategy, we’ve opted for this novel approach to get businesses talking business online. The beauty of the ‘DigiCon’ is that business people don’t have to take a whole day out of their busy schedule. They can dip in and out of the interviews when it suits them and the interviews will also be available online for everyone to view at their leisure after the event. I’m sure it will be a great success and will help us in our continuing aim to make East Lothian the fastest growing economy in Scotland and the best place in which to live, work and do businesses.”

Marc Crothall, Chief Executive of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, will deliver the closing keynote broadcast. Other speakers are: Steve McLean –General Manager, National Museum of Flight; James Barbour, Operations Director at Foxlake Adventures; Tom Brock, CEO The Scottish Seabird Centre; Rosie Ellison, Film Edinburgh; Angela Leitch, Chief Executive of East Lothian Council and Grant McKenzie, Regional Managing Director, MacDonald Marine Hotel & Spa, North Berwick.

Marc, Grant and James are the panellists for a live Q&A on the afternoon of Friday 17th March.
